COMMUNICATION IS KEY
Dear Parents/Guardians,
Welcome to a new school year. As the 5 homeroom teacher, I have the privilege of working closely with your child for the next ten months. I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself and open up what I hope will be a strong line of communication between us.
I hope that you and your child will have an opportunity to read through the school organizer together. This book contains important information regarding school routines, rules, expectations for behaviour, school dress code, study hints, and more. Please be sure to read through this information as soon as possible and sign the front page of your child's organizer to acknowledge you have done so.
The transition to junior grades can be difficult for some students as they struggle to organize themselves and complete the work assigned by a number of different teachers. The organizer is an asset that when used consistently each day helps students to keep track of due dates, extracurricular activities, and other commitments, so that they can effectively manage their time and be more likely to experience success. By checking and signing your child's organizer frequently, you will know what assignments your child is working on and when they are due.
Another way you and your child can stay on top of homework is by visiting this class website (http://macdragons.weebly.com) that will be updated regularly with homework, due dates, and other exciting news.
At St. Davids, we feel that regular communication with parents regarding students' academic progress is essential. I prefer to use e-mail as much as possible to communicate with parents about your child's progress. There is a place to leave your name and e-mail address for me at the bottom of this page. Please make sure you also identify your child's name in brackets. Example: Homer Simpson (Bart)
I look forward to meeting you at our open house in September. Please feel free to e-mail me if you have any questions.
